Watch: Aaron Finch injured during training, cleared for 1st ODI

Australia captain Aaron Finch was injured during a practice session ahead of the team’s first ODI against South Africa. The batsman’s injury had put a question mark over his participation in the first ODI but he has revealed that there is nothing serious to worry about and he is just taking some precautions to ensure he plays in the 1st ODI.

 

Finch injures his right hand in a practice session

The Aussie players were having a training session at Perth ahead of the first ODI. Skipper Finch was batting in the middle when a ferocious delivery by Mitchell Starc smashed on his right-hand glove.

The blow was severe and Finch immediately removed the glove and started shaking his hand. He received some medical treatment from the support staff and then left the field.

Later in the day, he was spotted having his injured hand in a cup of ice. The injury certainly created worries for the home team as it raised doubts over Finch’s participation in the first ODI.

 

Finch reveals injury not serious 

The Aussie captain, however, has revealed that the injury isn’t serious and he would make it to the playing eleven against the Proteas for the first ODI.

He said that the finger is all good and it was just a precautionary X-ray. He admitted that the finger was swollen because of the impact and it was a bit of painful.

He added that anytime you get hit by a big quick pacer, it hurts but he also feels that the doctor was more concerned than him.

Australia to lock horns against South Africa on November 04

The Aussie team will take on South Africa in the first ODI on November 04 at Perth. The second ODI will be played at Adelaide on November 09 and the third ODI on November 11 at Hobart.
