SA pacer to miss AUS T20I, returns to SA

South Africa pace bowler Dale Steyn will miss the T20I game against Australia and has returned to South Africa. The pacer was part of South Africa’s team that played the ODI series against Australia but now he won’t feature in the T20I match.

 

Steyn returns to South Africa

Dale Steyn who recently returned from an injury looked all good in the matches he played. However, the team management might be looking to manage his workload with the 2019 ICC world cup just a few months away.

The right-arm pacer is scheduled to play in the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League but the reports suggest that he won’t be featuring in the first encounter for the team.

Steyn’s impressive show in Australia 

Steyn was in fine form in the ODI series against Australia which South Africa won 2-1. The visitors enjoyed an upper hand in the series courtesy of a tremendous performance by the pace bowlers.

The right-arm pacer led the bowling attack and picked seven wickets in three games. He averaged a mere 13.42 and looked in great touch.

The 35-year old is an important part of South Africa’s team for the 2019 world cup. The pacer has featured in 88 Tests claiming 421 wickets and has played 121 ODIs picking up 192 wickets.

 

South Africa to play one-off T20I against Australia 

The Proteas will be playing one-off T20I against Australia on November 17. The team defeated Australia 2-1 in the ODI series.

In the absence of Dale Steyn, the visitors will be looking at other experienced bowlers like Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi to step up.
