Aakash Chopra’s advice to Prithvi Shaw
By slamming a crackling century on debut, Prithvi Shaw has become Indian cricket’s latest sensation. He is receiving accolades for his sensational batting at the top of the order but a few cricketers have pointed out the flaws in his technique and have offered some suggestions. Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra too has given some advice to Shaw with regards to the upcoming Australia tour.
Chopra feels Shaw is already working on his technique
Chopra said that Shaw will be tested in overseas conditions and he is sure that the youngster is aware of it. According to the former Indian opener, we will get to know whether he can weather the storm and what all he needs to do.
Chopra noted that currently, there are a couple of things and he believes that the right-hand batsman is working on that. He pointed out that one area of concern was Shaw’s trigger movement which Chopra feels is already looking different to what we saw in the IPL. At the same time, he admitted that he is not too worried and observed that the young batsman has got a great start.
Chopra offers advice to the new Indian opener
Chopra said that in Australia there will be some swing as Kookaburra tends to move a lot early on. Hazlewood and Starc will be exploiting those conditions. The former India cricket believes in Australia the batsman has to back himself and he feels that whatever took you to this level should make you successful at the highest level as well.
He added that Shaw may want to tighten up a bit but radical changes in the techniques are not advisable. He has got to be a little careful off the back foot. The punches that he likes to hit could be slightly risky if the ball is moving laterally. At the same time, Chopra feels he will learn with time.
He further added that what Shaw has done in the past counts for nothing. He will be eventually be judged by what he does at the highest level.
Chopra praises the young opener
However, the former Indian cricketer praised the right-hander for his efforts. He stated that what we have just seen is perhaps a trailer of the things to come. He feels it looks very promising and he also noted that you cannot grudge about the opposition and pitch was flat.
