Australia’s T20I captain, Aaron Finch became the highest rated international T20 player since the inception of the shortest format of the game when he played a knock of 172 against Zimbabwe.

The Aussie opener is the first player to break the 900-point mark in the ICC rankings as he climbed up three places to finish the tri-series in Harare against Zimbabwe and Pakistan as the top-ranked batsman in T20I.

Finch crossed the 900-point mark after playing a record-breaking knock of 172 against Zimbabwe in Harare and he finished the series with 891 points to comfortably sit atop the rankings.

Finch Breaks Virat’s Record:

The highest rating achieved previously was that of India skipper Virat Kohli who achieved 897 points in September 2014.

Aaron Finch had started the T20I series as the fourth-ranked batsman with 763 points to his name. A tour aggregate of 391 runs earned him 128 points as he leapt past Babar Azam, Colin Munro and Glen Maxwell.

Finch now leads the points tally with 891 points followed by Pakistan’s left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman and India’s KL Rahul.

India’s KL Rahul Rises to the Third Position:

Fakhar Zaman sits on the second with 842 points whereas India’s KL Rahul is on the third position with 812 points.

Colin Munro with 801 points and Babar Azam with 765 points are the fourth and fifth-ranked batsmen in the shortest format.

Australia’s D’Arcy Short,  Solomon Mire and Jason Roy of England have also achieved their career-best rankings following the latest update.

D’Arcy Short broke into the top-10 for the first time in his career in 10th position as he moved up 18 places.

In the bowling table, Rashid Khan of Afghanistan and Shadab Khan of Pakistan have retained their respective positions as top two ranked bowlers.

Australia’s Andrew Tye climbed 41 places to the seventh spot after taking 12 wickets in Harare.

However, there was no change in the top three all-rounders, with Australian Glenn Maxwell leading the field.

In the ICC T20I team rankings, Pakistan retained their top position with their tri-series victory against Australia while India overtook Australia to take second place after winning their three-match series against England by 2-1.
