Rangpur Riders have suffered another blow in the Bangladesh Premier League as top order batsman Alex Hales has been ruled out of the remaining tournament due to a shoulder injury.
Tom Moody, the coach of Riders updated the media about Hales’ injury during the team’s practice session. He said that they got the news last night and Hales required going back to London to have some specialist opinion on his left shoulder.
The explosive right-hand batsman had suffered a injury to his shoulder during the match against Rajshahi Kings.
Moody explained that the England batsman hurt his left shoulder last game during his batting and not in fielding and the English Cricket Board requested that he get some further advice and get an MRI and scan.
Moody also stated that unfortunately, that’s the end of his tournament with them and obviously he had a significant impact and great value to them.
Hales was prolific in the BPL and had amassed big scores that enabled Riders to win crucial matches. His significant contribution helped the team to reach the play-offs of the tournament. Hales scored a hundred and smashed two fifties as well in this season for Riders.
With Alex Hales returning to home, Riders now have to find a replacement for him at the top of the order. Aggressive Windies batsman Chris Gayle will be their other opener.
Riders will play their last league match on February 02nd against Comilla Victorians and then will feature in the play-offs.
