Don’t compare Prithvi with Sehwag, says Gautam Gambhir

Former Indian opener and World Cup star Gautam Gambhir has his take on comparing newcomer Prithvi Shaw, who scored a century on his Test debut against Windies with Virender Sehwag. According to Gambhir, it will be too early to compare him (Prithvi) with Sehwag. He is impressive. He is very talented, and this is the reason why he earned the Test cap. He started his career on an excellent note, but challenges are waiting for him.

Why Prithvi’s achievement is different from Virender Sehwag?

While talking to reporters, Gautam Gambhir urged everyone not to compare the young sensation with Viru. Former Indian opener said those who are comparing should think twice before giving their verdict on the younger one. He played just one match while Sehwag played over 100.

Gambir backed another young sensation and Test stumper Rishabh Pant for ODI series against Windies. He said if MS Dhoni continues to do well in limited-over cricket then he should be playing but if somebody else is good enough, then he should be given a chance.

How to prepare for Australia?

India will travel to Australia after the home series against Windies to play four Test, three T20 and three ODIs. Gambhir warned the Test number one side to be aware of the conditions in Australia. He said, it is difficult to challenge them on their home conditions and the only key to succeed is practice.
Gambhir recalled the Ashes series in 2010-2011 when English bowlers played 2-3 warm-up matches to prepare against mighty Australia which led them in winning it by 3-1. India had been criticised for their lack of practice against South Africa and England earlier this year.

The only positive for India is Steve Smith and David Warner, the batting duo of Australia will not be there still Australia has a forbidding batting line-up which can continue the challenge. They have world’s best off-spinner Nathon Lyon. It will not be a cakewalk at all.
