New England Squad: The COVID pandemic has created havoc all around the world, especially this year when the vaccinations have been undergoing, but the variants keep emerging and cause a destruction to human life. In the United Kingdom, the number of cases remained flat in the month of April and May. But, they soon escalated since June month and with the EURO Cup taking place in London and negligence, cases have increased. The latest to encounter are the three cricketers and four members of England team management tested positive for COVID. Now, the whole squad will isolate and follow rules. The England team was all set to play against Pakistan from July 8.

ENG vs PAK: New England ODI squad announced

The official account of England Cricket announced their fresh group of 18 players who will face-off against Pakistan national team from July 8. The all-rounder Ben Stokes will return to the side after recovering from injury and will be the captain.

Squad: Ben Stokes (C), Jake Ball, Danny Briggs, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Lewis Gregory, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Dan Lawrence, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Craig Overton, Matt Parkinson, David Payne, Phil Salt, John Simpson, James Vince.

“It’s a great opportunity to play on the biggest stage, and for most of the players selected it’s not necessarily something they would have been expecting 24 hours ago. It’s an exciting group of players, with some young talent and some players who have impressed at domestic level over a long period of time,” Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Ashley Giles said in a press release.

Lewis Gregory: The all-rounder has been excellent in the County Championship and T20 Blast with his contribution in both departments and can be a first-choice pick due to his experience.

Matt Parkinson: The Lancashire spinner has been terrific in the limited-overs tournaments and is coming into this tournament after a good form in the T20 Blast.

Phil Salt: A swashbuckling opener has proved himself at the domestic level and franchise tournaments. He is also Nottinghamshire’s top run-scorer in this season of T20 Blast.
