The Indian women have returned to play test cricket after a long gap of 7 years. They last played a test match against the same team, England in 2014. They have played 13 test matches against England and have lead of 2-1 in the bilateral series. Almost half of the current Indian team players have not appeared in the test matches. The team has won three consecutive test matches and if they win this test match, they will be the first team among the women cricket playing nations to win 4 test matches in a row.
The Indian wicketkeeper who was dropped in the limited-overs series against South Africa has returned to the squad for the England series. During the 21st over of the test match, Pooja Vastrakar bowled an out-swinger to dismiss Lauren Wenfield Hill. The flying catch was taken by Taniya Bhatia which got the Indian team a much needed wicket.
