England vs India: The Indian Women’s team registered an amazing 8-run win against the England Women on Sunday. In a thriller of an encounter, the Indian spinners turned the tables in quick time to level the three-match T20I series.

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India Women got off to a brilliant start. The opening pair of Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana composed a wonderful opening stand of 70 runs. Even though India were 0-1 down in the series, 17-year-old Shafali Verma played her natural game and smacked Katherine Brunt for 5 amazing four off consecutive balls in just the fourth over of the match. On the second ball of the over, Shafali slammed an incredible boundary over the mid-wicket region and then drilled one straight down the ground. She was timing the ball very nicely and it seemed like raining fours as she hit the last three balls of the fourth over for three back-to-back fours.

Shafali played an excellent knock of 48 runs off 38 balls to help India Women post a challenging total of 148 for 4 on the scoreboard.

In reply, England Women got off to a disappointing start as they loss two quick wickets for just 31 runs. However, the duo of Tammy Beaumont and Heather Knight then came to the rescue. Beaumont and Heather added 75 runs for the third wicket partnership to help England Women reach a strong position in the game. Beaumont smashed a fine knock of 59 runs off 50 balls but her wicket in 14th over also proved to be the turning point. England Women collapsed from 106-2 to 137-8 and ended up losing the game by 8 runs. For the India Women, Poonam Yadav finished with two crucial wickets while Deepti Sharma also bowled remarkably well.
