A new star

In a recent interview, Sunil Gavaskar praised the Indian team’s performance. As India hopes to retain the Asia Cup, Kedar Jadhav has emerged as the new star. His performance against Pakistan was nothing short of stellar and ensured India’s victory.

So far India has had no trouble except the injury of Hardik Pandya which unfortunately led him to be ruled out of the tournament. Jadhav fully played the role of an all-rounder against both Hong Kong and Pakistan.

His unique slingshot action has made it difficult for batsmen to deal with him. The nine overs he bowled against Pakistan gave him excellent figures of 3-23 and also ensured that Pakistan had no chance of winning. He has also presented himself as an option to the captain in case he wants to replace a bowler.

More surprises

The return to form of Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and even Ambati Rayudu is a pleasant surprise for India. The bowling department of the Indian team has been in the spotlight for the past year because of its excellent performance.

However, India should not make the mistake of taking Afghanistan and Bangladesh lightly as they had done with Hong Kong. Gavaskar said that India should try to win every match as cautiously as it did against Pakistan.

The teams have defeated Sri Lanka and shown their prowess in ODI cricket. With players like Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahman, does Bangladesh have the capacity to give India a good and long match?
