IND vs NZ WTC Tea Report Day 5: The second session of Day 5 in the India vs New Zealand World Test Championship Final has also been an exciting one so far. It was Kane Williamson and Collin de Grandhomme that walked in post lunch. Collin did try to impose himself with aggressive intent, but Mohammed Shami was too hot to handle with the new ball as he got him out LBW for 13.
Kyle Jamieson came in next, and impressed with the bat as well. Jamieson played a quick fire knock 21 runs off 16 deliveries before getting dismissed to Shami. Kane Williamson carried on his cautious approach and hung in there right till the end. The calm and composed Williamson eventually fell just a run short of his 50, as Ishant Sharma bagged his third victim of the day.
Tim Southee has also added some useful runs for New Zealand, courtesy some power packed shots, as he scored 30.
So far, the match is evenly poised, but it could turn out to be a tricky final session for the Indian batsmen. New Zealand have got themselves a lead of 32 runs, after scoring a total of 249. The Kiwi bowlers will be aiming to pick early wickets with the new ball, while India look to counter attack.
For New Zealand, Kyle Jamieson has been the star of the show with a fifer in the first innings. This was his 4th five wicket haul in eight Tests. Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli topped the charts with 49 runs and 44 runs respectively.
With the bat for New Zealand, it was Devon Conway who carried on his good run and scored 54. Kane Williamson played a hard fought knock of 49 for his team. Mohammed Shami put in a stellar show to pick four wickets, whereas, Ishant Sharma chimed in with three scalps.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are the expected openers to start proceedings for Team India in the final session of Day 5.
