The series between India and Sri Lanka has been on waiting list since it was announced. It was due to the fact that the 6 young players, Padikkal, Gaikwad, Rana, Sakariya, Gowtham, and Varun Chakravarthy have been named in the squad. It will be exciting to see how many of them really gets a chance among the experienced players who have been performing well in the international circuit.
The Sri Lanka Cricket has announced their 25 member squad for 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs against India. The first ODI is slated to start from 18 July and the tour will end on 29 July. The all-rounder Dasun Shanaka will captain the side, while Dhananjaya de Silva will be the vice-captain. Here is the full squad:
The wicket-keeper Kusal Perera was ruled out of the series earlier due to the shoulder injury and is said to be out for 4 weeks. The team’s experienced players Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, and Niroshan Dickwella have been dropped from the squad after they breached the bio-bubble protocol in England.
B Fernando: The tall lanky fast bowler was terrific in the series against England and helped the team to put pressure on the home team. With a left-arm action, he can cause a serious trouble to the Indian team.
A Fernando: The top-order batsmen has displayed his talent over a number of times but needs consistency to fill the gap of Kusal Mendis. Still, he is one of the talented players to watch out for in the current Sri Lanka squad.
W Hasaranga: The bowling all-rounder performed well against England and has been a consistent wicket-taker and can be handy with the bat as well.
