India vs Pakistan Super Four fixture: How the two sides fare?
It’s time for round 2 of India vs. Pakistan tussle in this Asia Cup 2018. Unlike the group meeting, this time it’s a high-stakes fixture with a chance to seal “the final berth.”
Going into the fixture, let’s take a look a closer look at the two sides.
There is no Virat Kohli for India, but he is not missed so far. With both openers firing and makeshift #3 Ambati Rayudu chipping in, India’s top-order looks alright.
On the other hand, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have done well with three 50+ scores between them. However, Fakhar Zaman has managed only 24 runs in three knocks so far and his form remains a concern.
India’s middle-order has failed on one and the only occasion they’ve got a chance. Likewise, Pakistan have problems of their own with Shoaib Malik not getting much support from the others.
India seem to have covered all bases in this department, as the latest inclusion Ravindra Jadeja fitting into the scheme of things with a 4-fer on his ODI comeback.
On the other hand, Mohammad Nawaz did a good job replacing the injured Shadab Khan against Afghanistan on Friday. However, they would still want their first-choice spinner Shadab in, but can he deliver right after is a big question.
Apart from tournament opener, India’s pace attack has been on the money. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has claimed six scalps in three outings while Bumrah has picked five in two games.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s pace battery – Hasan Ali, Usman Khan and Faheem Ashraf – have had mediocre returns so far. Moreover, they have shown the way to their star Mohammad Amir for Shaheen Afridi, and fortunately, that has worked for them.
