The Shaw-Dravid connection: Prithvi Shaw and Rahul Dravid have been re-united after their triumph in the ICC Under 19 World Cup of 2018. However, this time both individuals are in the mix for senior level cricket, as they take on Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three T20Is away from home. With the captain Shikhar Dhawan being one of the openers, it is being said, that Prithvi Shaw will accompany him as his partner on the pitch starting July 13.
Recently, the 21-year-old spoke about what it feels like to be under the mentorship of the great Rahul Dravid. Shaw expressed his delight, and talked about how the former Indian captain “knows everything about cricket”.
“The way he speaks, the way he shares his coaching experience, is just amazing. He knows everything about cricket. The way he speaks on conditions and how to use them is just out of this world,”
Rahul Dravid was considered to be one of the most disciplined cricketers of his time, as he makes sure to transmit that same energy among youngsters under him. Prithvi Shaw also stated that this tour is one of his most important ones, and is eager to make the most of it.
“As Rahul sir is there, one will expect discipline in the dressing room. I’m looking ahead to the practice sessions with Rahul sir because I love to speak to him for hours. This tour, I just have to grab the opportunity,”
The last time Prithvi Shaw was seen in action, was in the first half of the IPL 2021, where the youngster impressed one and all through his stroke making ability. Both Shaw and Dhawan have opened for the Delhi Capitals in quite a few games before, and are expected to have the same camaraderie, while representing India.
