IPL 2021 Phase 2: The second phase of IPL 2021 will begin from September 19 in United Arab Emirates. After the pandemic, the cricket tournaments and series took place without a break. It was evident that the excessive toll on the body will have an effect which can be long-lasting. The quarantine rules have also made the body stiff and there are no activities happening to avoid the spread of cases. The latest to join the injury concern is the opener of the test team, Shubman Gill.

Shubman Gill to miss IPL 2021 Phase 2

Few days back, there were reports of Shubman Gill getting injured and won’t be available for the 1st test against England starting from August. A BCCI source has given the confirmation regarding the injury concerns revolving around the opener.

“Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the entire Test series in the UK with shin splints that will take a minimum of three months to heal. The team’s administrative manager, at the end of last month, had sent an emailed requisition to former pacer Sharma asking for two more openers to be sent to the UK,” PTI reported a senior BCCI source close to the developments.

As it has been reported that it will take about three months for Shubman Gill to recover from the injury. In absence of him, the likely openers for the team can be Nitish Rana and Rahul Tripathi who have been proven performers.

Who are other Top Players set to miss IPL 2021 Phase 2?

Due to the tight international schedule, many cricket boards are reluctant to allow their players to be a part of the IPL 2021. These are the 2 top players are nearly confirmed to miss the tournament.

Steve Smith– The DC batsman was ruled out of the series against Bangladesh and West Indies due to elbow injury and can miss the IPL as well.

Sam Curran– The England all-rounder has been the star performer for the CSK team for the past couple of years and will not play the second phase of the league.
