In IPL’s off-season trade window, Kings XI Punjab have traded Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for Indian batsman Mandeep Singh. Punjab have bought the right-hand batsman from Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kings XI Punjab have traded Marcus Stoinis to RCB in exchange of Mandeep Singh. Stoinis was retained by Punjab in the 2018 auctions using a right-to-match card after RCB bought the Aussie for a whopping 6.20 crores while RCB had to shell out 1.40 crores for buying Mandeep in the auctions.
The Aussie all-rounder is known for his brute power that enables him to clear boundaries at will and his ability to bowl handy medium-pace bowling.
However his collaboration with Punjab in 2018 wasn’t a fruitful one as he failed to score significant runs in the middle order. Stoinis has has played 19 matches for Punjab scoring 262 runs and has claimed 13 wickets as well.
On the other hand, Mandeep Singh too didn’t fared well in his role as the middle-order batsman at RCB in 2018. The right-hand batsman scored 252 runs in 14 innings for RCB.
Incidentally, Mandeep represented Kings XI Punjab from 2011 to 2014 and featured in 49 matches.
Despite getting solid starts at the top of the order by KL Rahul, Punjab failed to make any significant impact in the IPL in 2018. Their skipper Ravichandran Ashwin failed to inspire the ream and the franchise finished at the second-last position with just six wins in 14 games.

RCB too suffered from frequent batting collapses and failure of bowlers to rise up to the occasion. Bangalore finished at the sixth position in the points table.
This is the first time IPL has offered the franchises an off season trade window which lasts till November 14.
The second trade window will start after the next year’s auction and will be open till the tournament commences.
