If you are a fan of Virat Kohli you know he never plays the same XI in back to back matches. It has become sort of a trademark for him. He is bound to make one change to who will be a part of the playing XI before every match. Ahead of the 4th Test match with England, fans were expecting the same. But before the match during an interview, Kohli dropped hints at something different.
The player everyone was expecting to be changed was R. Ashwin. After fighting through the pain of a groin strain he got during the first Test match, people were debating whether he will play the 4th Test match. Kohli told reporters that everyone was fit to play the 4th Test. He also mentioned Ashwin’s name by saying he had recovered nicely and had a good practice session. His major hint was that Ashwin was ready to go.

He was even asked about his chop and change policy to which he responded by saying that it was not about making random changes. It was about giving the injured players time to rest and recover and adapting to the situation. Another hint at Kohli’s plans was when he said that seeing the way things were at the moment, there was no need to make any changes.
He continued by saying that the whole team was in an exciting position. The win came at the right time to ignite the fire when everyone thought it was going to be a clean sweep for England. The playing that resulted in a 203 runs victory over the hosts was also a huge positive going into the 4th Test.
Kohli said as cricketers they were relentless and ruthless when it came to capitalizing on a moment. They did that at Nottingham and everyone on the team was aware that they had to do that twice again to win the series.
After their loss, England will be sure to come back strong and hard and we need to take that into consideration, Kohli said. We need to play stronger and better than Nottingham, he added.

Kohli even talked about the bowlers saying that it won’t matter if the batsmen make 800 runs if the bowlers don’t get wickets. Victory only comes when both parties work together and do their jobs. This is why the team has been focusing on the bowlers more than the batsmen, Kohli said.
Complimenting the pace bowlers Kohli added that the bowlers’ team India has are equal to any other team in the world. If they play well, team India can win anywhere. He also revealed that they have been playing with five bowlers because taking 20 wickets without them would be very hard.
Lastly, Kohli pointed out everything was a factor before and during the game. You can get a sense of the pitch but the weather conditions are unpredictable. They have to assess the situation with every passing hour.
