NZ spinner predicts high-scoring series against India

By Chaitanya Laxman

New Zealand spin bowler Mitchell Santner believes that the series against India will be a high-scoring one. The spinner also feels that the series will be a good test for both sides ahead of the 2019 world cup.

Santner feels it will be a very interesting series

The New Zealand cricketer noted that both teams have changed a lot since the 2014 tour. He pointed out that India have performed in England and against Australia in conditions similar to New Zealand.  So he believes that a lot depends on how quickly India can adapt to those conditions.

Santner also feels that if India can hit the ground running on those home conditions for New Zealand, then it is going to make for a very interesting series.

He believes that it can be a high-scoring series with the nature of grounds and wickets on offer.

India will probably like New Zealand conditions: Santner

The 26-year-old cricketer admitted that Virat Kohli and other Indian batsmen are scoring a lot of runs at the moment but he made it clear that they haven’t been to New Zealand for four years. However, he observed that they have played all around the country and scored runs everywhere.

So he feels that India will probably like New Zealand conditions, where it is quite flat, with not a lot of turn. And obviously if there’s not a lot of swing, the batsmen will like it and that is why he hopes that the ball swings for them.
