KXIP vs MI IPL

IPL 2019 is all about two things- Last over finishes and dramas surrounding no-balls and controversial wickets. The RCB vs MI IPL 2019 match had both of them however it was Mumbai who had the last laugh and registered their first win of 2019.

Bumrah steps up to deny ABD glory

Chasing 182 runs, ABD steered RCB’s innings and kept them in the vicinity of a win until the last over. He was supported well by Parthiv Patel who raced away to 31 runs off 22 balls to take Bangalore to 67 runs in the first seven overs and then by Virat Kohli who scored 46 runs off 32 balls.

de Villiers scored back to back fours against Pandya and tore apart Malinga by hammering  a four and two consecutive sixes in the 16th over. He then tonked Pandya for two more sixes to put the equation 22 runs off 12 balls.

But a sensational 19th over by Bumrah meant RCB earned just 4 runs which gave Malinga 17 runs to defend in the 20th over and he did it with relative ease.

ABD stood not-out on 70 runs off 41 balls, his first instance ever of remaining not-out in an unsuccessful chase.

Malinga’s uncalled no-ball spur drama

If the last ball finish wasn’t enough of a dose of entertainment, then the no-ball by Malinga which wasn’t called ignited more sparks.

The TV replays showed that the last ball of RCB’s innings was a big no-ball by Malinga however the on-field umpire failed to notice it.

RCB needed seven off the last ball and if the no-ball was called then it would have given RCB another chance to win the game.

Skipper Virat Kohli was clearly disappointed with this and he vented out his anger in the presentation ceremony.

Rohit, Pandya take Mumbai to 187 as Chahal applies brakes

Earlier in the evening, Rohit Sharma found some form and scored 48 runs off 33 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also added 38 runs off 24 balls to set a platform for Mumbai.

But Yuzvendra Chahal bowled with a big-heart and was rewarded with four wickets. His assault wrecked Mumbai’s middle-order but Hardik Pandya rescued them with  a cameo of 32 runs off 14 balls.

There was something to cheer for Yuvraj’s fans also. The left-hander clobbered Chahal for three back to back sixes on the first three balls of the 14th over.

This refreshed the memories of his heroics against Stuart Broad in the 2007 World T20 but Chahal had the last laugh as he got Yuvi caught out on the fourth ball.
