Shikhar Dhawan was at his ‘brutal best’ as he smashed the Afghan bowlers to become the first Indian to score a century before lunch on Thursday.

Reminiscing his experience of the Indian Premier League, Dhawan said, “I have faced Rashid in the nets for the last two years. I am quite used to his bowling, it was certainly an advantage for me.”

He also said that although he was happy to hit Rashid Khan, he wanted his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate to become a better Test match bowler with the lessons that he had learnt from the game against India.

Dhawan smashed a blistering 104 off 91 balls which comprised of 19 fours and three sixes in the Historic Test against Afghanistan.

The southpaw broke the Sehwag’s record, who scored 99* out against West Indies in Gros Islet.

BCCI also congratulated Dhawan on his feat, “U congratulate Dhawan for his fantastic innings. It was a special knock that came on a special occasion.”

Acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary said, “Dhawan ensured an outstanding morning in Bengaluru. We had dignitaries from both the countries who were witnessing the game and many others who were following the game very closely.”
