The latest news came from the Indian team who are playing limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, where all-rounder Krunal Pandya has been tested positive for COVID-19. All the players from both the teams have now underwent RT-PCR test, and will be a waiting game for broadcasters and audience as well.

2 Players who can replace Krunal Pandya in SL vs IND 2nd T20I

The 2nd T20I between India and Sri Lanka has been postponed to 28 July, Wednesday and 3rd T20I will be played on the scheduled date, 29 July. With Krunal Pandya testing positive, there can be 2 players in the squad who can replace him in the Playing XI.

1. D Padikkal

With the team already having 2 spinners in Chahal and Varun, the team can give chance to youngster Devdutt Padikkal who has been phenomenal for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 and first phase of IPL 2021.

2. R Gaikwad

The failure of Nitish Rana in 2nd ODI might give an advantage to the top-order batsman from Maharashtra who has been impressive for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. He also has the flexibility to perform well in the middle-order as well.

Injury Concerns in Sri Lanka camp

The Sri Lanka team has been involved in another setback after the ODI series loss. Their top batsmen, Charitha Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaska have sustained injury and are reported to be unavailable for rest of the series. Another youngster, Nissanka is also suffering a finger injury which is a worrying sign for the home team.
