SLW vs INDW: Jhulan’s stint of the 300th International Wicket

Jhulan broke new ground for the Women’s cricket

Indian great cricketer Jhulan Goswami scalped 300 International Wickets which is the most by any women cricketer in the past. The 35-year-old pacer Jhulan Goswami broke new ground for the women’s cricket once again by dismantling the Sri-Lankan batting line-up in the 2nd ODI at the Galle International Stadium.

Who is the second best?

The Former Australian pacer Cathryn Fitzpatrick has taken the second most wickets in the history of Women’s cricket, she took 240 wickets overall across Tests, and ODIs. Jhulan is by far 60 wickets ahead from the second best who is a retired professional. With her Two-wicket haul in the first ODI of the series against Sri-Lanka, Jhulan has been setting the benchmarks for her contenders. Jhulan’s record-breaking performance throughout her career is second to none.

What Mithu Mukherji has to say on Jhulan?

After her magnificent spell, media asked Mithu Mukherji about Jhulan, who is a former cricketer and current Bengali selector. She said, “Jhulan is being Jhulan. “Cricket is everything for her. And even before she left for Sri Lanka, she called me and said ‘Mithu di, I want to take a five-wicket haul on this tour. I haven’t got one for a while”.

While talking about his T20I stint, Mithu said, “She (Jhulan) used to have the pace, but was more dependent on the information she was receiving from her captain and the seniors. Now, she’s in control of every ball she bowls and knows exactly what she wants to achieve with each one of them, even if her speeds have dropped. She’s also started working extensively on her fitness, follows her dietician’s orders very strictly, and wants to give a lot more to Indian cricket”.

Jhulan has been an inspiration for a million, and she is an influencer to many budding cricketers especially bowlers. Her story of being a not-so-passionate one to a cricketing legend has been a great journey to follow. We want more from you Babul!
