Sehwag backs Jadeja’s inclusion in the fourth Test

Pacers have stolen the limelight so far in the ongoing Test series between England and India whereas spinners haven’t got many reasons to celebrate.

R Ashwin performed well in the first Test against England but he could not replicate the success in the third Test in Nottingham as he returned with a single wicket.

As India gears up for the fourth Test which is all set to kick start from 30 August, Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has backed the inclusion of Ravindra Jadeja in the playing XI of team India.

India lost their first two Tests but made a comeback in the third Test and won the third Test against England by 203 runs.

While batsmen displayed a great determination to post a mammoth total of 521 runs, bowlers produced a clinical performance to deny the hosts a victory in the third Test.

However, Ashwin will only feature in the fourth Test once he is declared fully fit but it remains to be seen whether Kohli includes Jadeja in the playing XI or not.

Why should Virat pick Jadeja?

He didn’t get an opportunity to play in the Tests during the South Africa tour earlier this year and Jadeja is yet to play a Test match in the ongoing five-match Test series.

Virender Sehwag feels that the pitch conditions in Southampton might assist the spinners and he said that he was hopeful of Ashwin getting fit before the fourth Test. He also said that Jadeja is capable of capable of strengthening India’s spin attack.

“Jadeja could play along with Ashwin. India should feel lucky to have two spinners in their squad who can trouble their opponents,” he said.

“I wish Ashwin gets fit in time and India fields both. Moreover, both of them can bat. It will also strengthen the batting line-up of the team,” he added.

Ashwin is currently recovering from a groin injury, while as Jadeja has been sidelined in England as he has not got a single game yet.
