The legendary Aussie leg-spinner Shane Warne has said that India needs to break James Anderson’s rhythm and has advised India to attack Anderson. For this purpose, he wants Indian opener, KL Rahul to attack the English seamer.
While speaking with a newspaper, Warne said that Anderson is fantastic in these conditions and if he has the tail up then it is difficult to deal with him. The former leg-spinner pointed out that better the bowler, the more aggressive you have to be.
Evidence and numbers back Warne’s claims. Anderson has indeed been the chief tormentor in this ongoing Test series between India and England. The right-arm pacer is the highest wicket-taker in the series so far and has 17 wickets in his kitty at an impressive average of 14.88. He has spearheaded England’s new ball attack so far in the three Tests and has ensured that Indian top-order remains under pressure at the beginning of the innings.
Warne stated that if he was a part of the Indian team management then he would tell Rahul to try and take Jimmy down. Warne admitted that he would love to see KL Rahul going after Jimmy Anderson.
Warne who finished with 999 international wickets was also full of praise for Virat Kohli. He said that at the present moment, Kohli is the best batsman who can play all formats. Warne who is regarded as the greatest leg-spinner Test cricket ever produced also admitted that it is difficult to judge greatness of Virat as he is still playing but if he plays against all players and in all conditions over a long period of time then he can match Tendulkar and Lara who according to Warne were the best of his times.
The fourth Test between India and England begins on 30th August. After losing first two Tests India bounced back strongly and won the third Test. For the fourth Test, Warne said that he would pick two spinners as there will be help for spinners.
