Rain played spoilsport on the first day of the second Test between England and India at Lord’s and on the second day as well rain hindered the start of the game.

After winning the toss, England chose to bowl first. India brought in Kuldeep Yadav and axed Shikhar Dhawan to make way for Puajara.

With the pitch adding to the woes of Indian batsman, James Anderson had his weapons and he was all set to draw the first blood. It took five balls to give the hosts their first blow in Murali Vijay who collected a duck and walked off to the pavilion.

He then dismissed KL Rahul and soon afterwards, Cheteshwar Pujara also got run-out as India slumped to 15/3 after 8.3 overs.

Kohli and Rahane then stitched a partnership of 34 runs for the 4th wicket and Indian fans hoped to see Kohli resurrect the innings for India.

However, the hopes were soon dashed after Chris Woakes removed Ben Stokes for 24 runs. He striked again to take Pandya’s wicket for 11 runs.

R Ashwin was the highest run-scorer for India with 29 runs and Kohli scored 24.

Anderson completed his five-wicket haul after dismissing Rahane, Kuldeep and Ishant. He also completed the tally of 99 runs at Lord’s.

The conditions offered assistance to the English bowlers and Jimmy Anderson and Chris Woakes finished it to shove out India for 107.
