KL Rahul has proved to be an asset for Team India in the field. He he been a safe house in the slips where India has struggled recently but he is also an excellent fielder in the out-field. Rahul’s incredible fielding skills were showcased once again on the second day of the fifth Test when he pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss Stuart Broad.

After a remarkable middle-order collapse England were in all sorts of troubles when Broad joined Jos Butler in the middle. The duo then repaired the damage and added 98 vital runs for the ninth wicket. The partnership frustrated India and threatened to take the game away from the visitors. It seemed that both batsmen had neutralized India’s bowlers and only a miracle could help India.

And soon the miracle arrived courtesy of Rahul’s brilliant display of acrobatic skills. In the 118th over, Broad took on Ravindra Jadeja and went for a big slog on the leg-side. But the England batsman failed to middle it and the ball hoovered in the air for a long time.

For a moment it seemed as if the ball would land safely, but Rahul, running from mid-on made a precise judgement of the ball’s trajectory by keeping his eyes on it and leapfrogged to take a stunning catch.

It was  breath-taking sight to watch Rahul sprint for some distance and then dive in one motion to take the catch.

The sensational catch stunned everyone and Rahul received applause from his team-mates as well as the spectators present at the Oval.

In reply, Rahul brought the same confidence in his batting too and gave India a solid start. But he was undone by a Sam Curran beauty and was dismissed for 37 runs.

Despite Kohli’s 49 runs India lost too many wickets in the final session and at stumps on day two were at 174 for six wickets down.
