Chennai Super Kings vs  Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Big Picture

After contesting in a humdinger of an encounter at the Chinnaswamy last week where Chennai on the back of Dhoni’s blistering knock, edged past Royal Challengers Bangalore, the two sides will lock horn again at the M.C.A stadium in Pune.

While Bangalore is coming off a morale-boosting win against the Mumbai Indians, the perennial chinks have started to surface for the Super Kings. While they failed to up the ante in the middle-overs against KKR, that resulted in a sub-par total of 5-177, their bowling lacked venom. And on a day where their best fielder in Jadeja dropped two catches, the chinks in the bowling appeared wider. Ngidi (1-36) and Asif (1-32) were expensive and anguish on Dhoni’s face was apparent with none of the bowlers sticking to their plans.

For the Challengers, it was a case of finally getting their bowling combination at the death right. The move to bring in Tim Southee (2-25) paid rich dividends as he and Siraj (2-28) out a choke on MI’s power-hitters at the death to successfully defend 168.
