Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab
The Big Picture
It is expected to be another pulsating clash at the Vivo IPL 2018 with the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad set to host the Kings XI Punjab.
Where: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
When: 26 April 2018, 8:00 PM
The pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is usually a belter for the batsman while slowing down considerably as the game progresses.
Statistics over the years: While over the past ten years, the average first innings score has gone from 170 to 165, the team batting first has won 31 times (37.1%) while the chasing side has won 43 times i.e 57.3%.
The Sunrisers on the back of commendable captaincy from Kane Williamson and shrewd and accurate bowling from the bowlers defended a poultry 119 against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. After two lackluster games, Rashid Khan came into his own as he registered figures of 2-11.
But it is their batting that has been out of shape especially after Shikhar Dhawan’s injury. Dhawan returned in the last game but could not continue his rich vein of form and accounted for just 5. While Williamson has been tremendously consistent with an average over 50, the likes of Pandey, Shakib and Yusuf will need to step-up if the batting needs to put a competitive total moving forward in the tournament.

Kings XI Punjab
The Kings will welcome the Universe Boss Chris Gayle to their line-up in the previous game, and the left-hander missed out on the last game due to injury. Punjab struggled in the last match as none of the batsmen applied themselves barring Karun Nair (34), and the form of Finch and Yuvraj will come in as a cause of concern for them.
Another thing that has been particularly impressive from the Kings point of view is how well Ashwin has led his troops as a skipper. His plans apart from his own bowling have been immaculate, and it was on full show when his side defended a poultry target against Delhi.
Coming in as a replacement for Mohit Sharma, Rajpoot bowled brilliantly against DD, accounting for Prithvi Shaw (22) and Glenn Maxwell (12) to reduce the Daredevils to 2-41 inside the first five overs.
Coming in as a replacement for Axar Patel in the last game against CSK, Barinder may have conceded 45 runs in the last game against DD, but he bowled a magnificent penultimate over in which he conceded just 4 runs, thus keeping 17 in the bank for Mujib to defend in the last over.
Rajpoot finished with an impressive spell of 2-23 in 4 overs and is expected to be a pivotal part of the KXIP attack going forward. Defending 144, Mujib took 2-25 in his quota of 4 overs, the last of which was in the final over of the match when he denied a rampaging Shreyas Iyer (57), to help script a memorable 4-run win for his side.
