Kings XI Punjab vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

The Big Picture

It is expected to be another pulsating clash at the Vivo IPL 2018 with the Kings XI Punjab set to host the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.

While Sunrisers are the only team to remain undefeated thus far in the tournament, they’ll be up against a buoyed Kings XI Punjab unit who are coming off a nail-biting win over the Chennai Super Kings.

Where: P.C.A Stadium, Mohali

When: 19 April 2018, 8:00 PM

Pitch Conditions

The pitch at Mohali over the years has provided a riveting contest between the bat and the ball. Teams batting first have won 37.7 percent of the games whereas teams batting second have won 60.7 percent of games in the last ten years in T20s.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

From a potent bowling attack to an assured top-order, the 2016 IPL champions Sunrisers Hyderabad have looked the complete team of the tournament thus far.

With the likes of Billy Stanlake, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan and Shakib Al Hasan, at their disposal SRH have managed to put a near perfect choke on the opposition’s batting, evident from the scores that teams have put against them, 125, 147, and 138. However, their bowling will up against Kings XI Punjab, who boast of a belligerent batting line-up in Rahul, Nair, Finch, Yuvraj and of course Chris Gayle.

While SRH bowling and their top-order in Saha, Dhawan, and Williamson have been their key tenet to success, they would want more runs from their middle-order in Pandey, Yousuf, and Hooda, and Shakib, in case they have to chase down a huge target.

Probable XI:

Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda, Bhuvneshwar Kumar/Sandeep Sharma, Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlaike, Siddarth Kaul

Kings XI Punjab

The Kings welcomes the Universe Boss Chris Gayle to their line-up in the previous game, and the left-hander offered a glimpse of his destructive self with a power packed 63 off 33 balls, as the KXIP amassed 197 in their allotted 20 overs.

While the form of Yuvraj and Finch (two consecutive golden ducks) will be an issue of concerns for the Kings, the batting looks fairly settled with the likes of Rahul, Nair, and Agarwal in scintillating form.

Another thing that has been particularly impressive from the Kings point of view is how well Ashwin has led his troops as a skipper. His plans apart from his own bowling have been immaculate, evident from the fact that he backed an under-fire Mohit Sharma to bowl the last over against a rampaging MS Dhoni in the last game.

While there is still a case of improvement in terms of their fast-bowling stocks, their spin department in Mujib and Ashwin himself looks imperious. Not many changes are expected in the KXIP line-up.

Probable XI:

Aaron Finch, Mayank Agarwal, KL Rahul (WK),  Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, Axar Patel, R Ashwin (C), Mohit Sharma, Barinder Sran,  Andrew Tye, Mujib Ur-Rahman
