Windies tour of Pakistan, 2018
Pakistan vs Windies, 1st T20I
Venue: National Stadium, Karachi
Ever since that fateful incident with the Sri Lankan team at Lahore in the March of 2009, the International teams have been reluctant to travel to Pakistan, forcing the Men in Green to play their home games in the UAE. Prudent efforts have been made by the PCB to bring cricket back to the terror-ridden country. A small step in that regard was the staging of the playoffs of the PSL as well as T20I series against Sri Lanka last year. Pakistan vs Windies is another attempt to restore cricket back into the nation.
This year too, Pakistan fans will get a feel of International cricket with the Windies scheduled to play a 3-match T20I series scheduled to start from Sunday, April 1 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The wicket at the National Stadium is traditionally a batting paradise and with short boundaries and fast outfield, it is expected to be an ideal T20 pitch.
Team News and Squads:
In a bid to reward good performances off the PSL, Pakistan has decided to award T20I debut to four uncapped players in Shaheen Afridi, Rahat Ali, Asif Ali and Hussain Talat, while Imad Wasim and Rumman Raees, both continue to recover from their respective injuries, miss out on the historic series. While Mohammed Hafeez was axed, Kamran Akmal, the second-highest run-scorer in the recently concluded PSL was overlooked.

In a similar predicament, as was with touring Lankans last year, the Windies have sent a weakened squad to Pakistan. While Jason Mohammed will captain the side in the absence of regular skipper Jason Holder, Chris Gayle, Devendra Bishoo are other notable absentees from the Windies squad that recently featured in the World Cup Qualifiers, 2018.
Chadwick Walton and Andre Fletcher who recently featured in the PSL Final at Karachi, find a place in the squad while Andre McCarthy and Odean Smith will make their respective T20I debut in the series.
