Windies tour of Pakistan, 2018

Pakistan vs Windies, 3rd T20

Venue: National Stadium, Karachi

While the return of international cricket may have been a watershed moment in Pakistan’s history yesterday with the commencement of the T20I series against Windies, the cricket at best has lacked skills, context, and more importantly pedigree. After being humbled by 143 runs in the first match, the second game bore the same script as the Calypso Kings were defeated by an inspired Pakistan side led by a brilliant 97 from Babar Azam and another gritty display by debutant Hussain Talat.

With the series already gone, the third T20 offers the opportunity to salvage some pride, for Pakistan, they’d be looking to test their bench strength and the likes of Shaheen Afridi might get a look in.

Pitch Conditions

The wicket at the National Stadium is traditionally a batting paradise and with short boundaries and fast outfield, it is expected to be an ideal T20 pitch.

Team News and Squads:

Having racked up 5-203 in 20 overs in the second T20I, Pakistan became the first team to register four consecutive 180+ totals in T20i history. They were led by Babar Azam (97) who emerged as a highest-run getter, Talat impressed again with a breezy 63 off 41 balls.

Amir was once again the pick of the bowlers, accounting for three Windies wickets while Shadab (2-23) and Nawaz (1-19) continue to deliver consistent performances. Pakistan may rest Amir and give uncapped Shaheen Afridi his maiden T20 match.

Probable XI

Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Hussain Talat, Sarfraz Ahmed (c & wk), Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali/Ahmed Shahzad, Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Nawaz, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Amir/Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali/Shaheen Afridi

While the Windies were best lackluster in the first contest, they did not offer any resistance in the second game either and capitulated to an 82-run loss. Apart from Chadwick Walton (40) no batsman could offer any substantial resistance as the side folded for 123 in response to Pakistan’s

While there is no injury concern, the likes of McCarthy might get a look-in.

Probable XI

Chadwick Walton, Andre Fletcher, Marlon Samuels, Jason Mohammed (c), Denesh Ramdin (wk), Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, Rayad Emrit, Kesrick Williams, Samuel Badree, Odean Smith
