Windies tour of Pakistan, 2018

Pakistan vs Windies, 3rd T20

Venue: National Stadium, Karachi

THE BIG PICTURE

While the return of international cricket may have been a watershed moment in Pakistan’s history yesterday with the commencement of the T20I series against Windies, the cricket at best has lacked skills, context, and more importantly pedigree. After being humbled by 143 runs in the first match, the second game bore the same script as the Calypso Kings were defeated by an inspired Pakistan side led by a brilliant 97 from Babar Azam and another gritty display by debutant Hussain Talat.

With the series already gone, the third T20 offers the opportunity to salvage some pride, for Pakistan, they’d be looking to test their bench strength and the likes of Shaheen Afridi might get a look in.

Pitch Conditions

The wicket at the National Stadium is traditionally a batting paradise and with short boundaries and fast outfield, it is expected to be an ideal T20 pitch.

Amir was once again the pick of the bowlers, accounting for three Windies wickets while Shadab (2-23) and Nawaz (1-19) continue to deliver consistent performances. Pakistan may rest Amir and give uncapped Shaheen Afridi his maiden T20 match.
