England Tour of India, England vs India 3rd ODI
After winning the match by 86 runs and levelling the series by 1-1, now England would be hosting India for the third ODI match at Headingley, Leeds on 17 July.
England avenged their first ODI match loss by registering a comprehensive victory against India in the second ODI.
India defeated England in the first ODI by eight wickets, but England bounced back in the second game and outplayed India by 86 runs.
For a brief time, Indian fans hung on to memories of 2002 win at Lords and the parallels were going well on track for quite a while, but this time India couldn’t repeat history as they succumbed before the English pace attack at 236 runs to suffer a heavy defeat.
Nevertheless, India is all set to go on a prowl again to clinch the ODI series against the hosts.
Hosts, on the other hands, would have gained confidence from the game at Lord’s and they will try their best to keep their momentum going.
If England want to prevail in the decider, they will have to make sure to get rid of India’s top order batsmen as they possess the ability to distort and churn the bowling attack of their opponents.
Moreover, they also need to find a solution to Kuldeep’s wizardry, who bamboozled the English batsmen in the first ODI and took six wickets.
He also took three wickets in the second ODI, thus Kuldeep might pose a major threat to England.
India need to deal with their middle-order frailties and they will aim for plugging their loopholes in the third match.
The men in blue are on the cusp of achieving their tenth successive series triumph.
Since 2011, India haven’t lost a single bilateral contest against England. They have won 10 out of 17 matches against the hosts. They would like to enjoy their upper hand this time around as well.
