India A and New Zealand A get ready for the third unofficial test starting from Friday at Whangarei. The previous two matches of the three unofficial test series ended in a draw and series is yet open to be clinched. 

While Ajinkya Rahane led India to a draw in the first test, Karun Nair led the side quite well in the second test which was interrupted due to rain. Put into bat, New Zealand A declared the first innings at 303 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Skipper Will Young (123) was the top scorer for the side while Theo van Woerkom scored a fifty coming down the order.

Coming to bat, India A reached 159 for 2 when the rain interrupted the play. Almost two days of play was abandoned due to rain and the match was called off. Mohammad Siraj’s four-wicket and Ravikumar Samarth’s unbeaten fifty were amongst a few positives from India. Earlier, openers A Easwaran (47) and Mayank Agarwal (42) gave a decent start but failed to convert it into big innings.

The test series will be followed by three matches unofficial ODI series scheduled to start from December 07.
