Imrul Kayes in 2017 while playing against New Zealand, became the first substitute wicket-keeper in a Test format to take 5 catches in an innings.
Imrul was the leading run-scorer for Bangladesh Cricket Team in 2011 World Cup where he scored 188 runs with an average of 32.11.
He was also awarded as Man of the Match for two consecutive games.
In 2015 while batting in the BPL tournament, Imrul was intentionally shoved by T. Dilshan, thus preventing him from running down the crease. However, the batsman on the other end was unaware of this fact and he ran for a run, hence both the batsman resulting on the same side of the crease. The matter was further taken to the third umpire, who upon review, declared the batsman NOT OUT and awarded 5 runs to the batting team as a penalty.
