Since Kapil Dev, India has not produced a better swing bowler than Irfan Pathan. Breaking into the International scene as a young teenager, Irfan made his mark right away and became India’s first choice new-ball bowler. Pathan lost his swing abruptly by 2005 and was left out from the national team for dismal shows. He was given the nod again, but could not match the early year displays.

Lesser Known Facts
According to Pathan, he modelled his action by watching Pakistan great Wasim Akram.
Javed Miandad, Pakistan’s coach had stated that Irfan is ‘Galli ka Spearhead’ and bowlers like him play in every street of Pakistan after comparisons of him and Wasim Akram gained some steam in the media. Pathan gave a befitting reply to the Pakistani great, taking a hat-trick in the very next Test match in Karachi. His father, Mehboob Khan reportedly went to personally meet the legend after the match.
Irfan travelled to England to play a few games for Middlesex in 2005.
Irfan Pathan runs the Cricket Academy of Pathans jointly with Yusuf Pathan. The academy has tied up with former India coach Greg Chappell and Cameron Tradell as chief mentors. Chappell would coach the coaches of the Academy.
Pathan was a contestant in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2015.
