MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, September 27 at 09:00 AM

The table toppers of Elite Group C Jharkhand will now face Jammu and Kashmir in their fourth game of the tournament at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Jharkhand has been the most impressive team along with Mumbai, Delhi and Bihar as they are yet to lose a game.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir are eyeing their first win of the competition having lost three games in succession to Bengal, Tripura and Haryana. After a three day break, they are now going to face the table toppers for which they have to play out of their skins to pose a tough challenge.

After an emphatic world-class performance against Rajasthan, Jharkhand’s Shahbaz Nadeem is on cloud nine and he will possess a really big threat for the opposition going into this game. From just 2 games he has scalped 11 wickets and looking unstoppable.

Jammu and Kashmir after a dreadful start to their campaign will sit down and look for the mistakes they have committed so far to come strong

TN vs ASM Dream11 Match Prediction | Who Will Win Today match

Guru Nanak College Ground, Chennai, September 27 at 09:00 AM

Round 7 of the Elite Group C will see Tamil Nadu taking on Assam at the Guru Nanak College Ground in Chennai. This would be the fourth game for both teams with Tamil Nadu winning 2 of the three games played while Assam are still looking for their first win of the competition.

Tamil Nadu had a disappointing start to their campaign when they lost to Gujarat in the opener by 4 wickets after a dismal batting show where they could only manage 205 in 50 overs while batting first. In reply, Gujarat just cruised their way and acquired the target in 47.1 overs on the back of Priyank Panchal’s unbeaten 117 of 129 deliveries.

But, the next two games against Services and Rajasthan helped them come back to winning ways as they clinched victories by 83 runs and 1 wicket respectively.

Meanwhile, things are not going in Assam’s favour as the North East state is yet to taste a win in this year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy. With 2 losses from 3 games and one match being called off due to rain they find themselves reeling at the eighth position in the Elite Group C table.

Their margin of defeat has been heavy as their loss against Haryana and Jharkhand totally deteriorate them and their next challenge in Tamil Nadu is also going to be a tough encounter.

Read on for TN vs ASM Dream11 Team News and Tamil Nadu vs Assam playing 11.

TN vs ASM Team News

  • Assam might look to bring in some changes after two losses on the trot.
  • Tamil Nadu’s captain Vijay Shankar who missed the game against Rajasthan due to injury is unlikely to feature in this game as well.
  • K Vignesh is also a doubtful starter for this game due to a thigh injury.

TN vs ASM Playing 11

Here’s how the two sides may lineup for Tamil Nadu vs Assam clash

Tamil Nadu Playing 11 (Probable):

Wicket-keeper: N Jagadeesan

Batsmen: Abhinav Mukund, Shahrukh Khan, Baba Indrajith(c), Kaushik Gandhi, Balchander Anirudh

All-rounders: Baba Aparajith (Doubt over Vijay Shankar’s fitness)

Bowlers: T Natarajan, Sai Kishore, M Mohammad, Varun Chakravathi

Assam Playing 11 (Probable):

Wicket-keeper: Wasiqur Rahman

Batsmen: Parvez Aziz, Romario Sharma, Amit Sinha(c)

All-rounder: Gokul Sharma, Sibasankar Roy, Riyan Parag

Bowlers: Arup Das, Rahul Singh, Mukhtar Hussain, Jitumoni Kalita (Doubt: Abu Nechim)

TN vs ASM Squads

Assam: Amit Sinha(c), Wasiqur Rahman(w), Mrinmoy Dutta, Abu Nechim, Arup Das, Abhishek Thakuri, Jitumoni Kalita, Mukhtar Hussain, Riyan Parag, Abhijit Roy, Sibsankar Roy, Gokul Sharma, Romario Sharma

Tamil Nadu: Vijay Shankar (c), Rahil Shah, M Mohammed, T Natarajan, Shahrukh Khan, Krishnamoorthy Vignesh, N Jagadeesan, Baba Indrajith, Balchander Anirudh (wk), Parvez Aziz, Jagatheesan Kousik, Baba Aparajith, Kaushik Gandhi, Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore, Rahul Singh, Varun Chakravathi, Yo Mahesh, Abhinav Mukund, Jagannathan Kaushik.

Fantasy Picks

  • N Jagadeesan has scored a blazing ton against services while opening the innings. He would be the right choice among the wicket-keepers.

  • Among the batsmen, you can pick Abhinav Mukund, Balchander Anirudh as both have gone past half-centuries already in the three games played and are looking good for more. You can also go for Riyan Parag as he is one of the batting mainstays for Assam.

  • You should pick Baba Indirajith and Sibasankar Roy in your fantasy eleven. Indirajith has got two fifties so far and is looking the most comfortable batsman in the side. Sibasankar Roy has got the highest individual score for Assam who are really struggling in the batting department, therefore he will be a good choice for your fantasy eleven.

  • Assam has been very poor in this department, therefore we will suggest you to pick the Likes of Sai Kishore and Varun Chakravathi who have got wickets in clusters and both the bowlers have taken 5-fers as well.

Our Captain and Vice-Captain Picks

The players who can help you to double your points are Baba Indirajith, Abhinav Mukund, Varun Chakravathi and N Jagadeesan.

Gavaskar compares Rohit’s captaincy with this legendary West Indian cricketer

Gavaskar impressed with Rohit’s captaincy

India’s stand-in captain Rohit Sharma has been empathetic in the Asia Cup. He is scoring runs at will at the top of the order and his captaincy skills are receiving appreciation from former cricketers and analysts. The latest to hail Rohit’s captaincy skills is former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar who believes that there are a lot of similarities between Rohit’s captaincy and former West Indies captain Clive Llyod’s captaincy.

Rohit does not put any pressure on others: Gavaskar

Gavaskar was speaking about Rohit’s captaincy in a column he wrote for a newspaper. He wrote that the Indian skipper is doing the Clive Lloyd thing. The former Indian cricketer pointed out that the Indian skipper is hiding his emotions as he smiles and turns back to his fielding position. According to Gavaskar, this does not put any pressure on the person who dropped the catch or misfielded and makes him want to give an extra effort.

Best teams know all eleven can’t be successful: Gavaskar

At the same time, Gavaskar attributed some of the traits of a successful cricket team. He said that the best of teams just go on to the next delivery as they know, in a team game, all eleven can’t be successful and there is bound to be the odd failure. How to carry that failure and make him a part of the team’s success is the key.

He pointed out that the great West Indies teams of the past did that splendidly with the phlegmatic skipper Clive Lloyd displaying no emotion with an error on the field. The former Indian cricketer added that the same was with the ’90s Australian team who bonded so well with each other that, if one of them dropped a catch, they would have a go at the batsman instead for being lucky.

Asia Cup: Twitter congratulates Deepak Chahar, India’s latest debutant

India pick Deepak Chahar against Afghanistan

In a bid to give match practice to all players from the squad India made sweeping changes in the team for the match against Afghanistan in Asia Cup.

The absence of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan and Dhoni’s return to captaincy may have made the headlines but it was a special day for Deepak Chahar who made his ODI debut in this game.

The inspiring tale of Chahar

Deepak Chahar’s rise has been a story of plenty of twists and turns.  When the pacer was 16 years old, he was turned down by Greg Chappell, the director of Rajasthan cricket academy at that time. But Chahar refused to budge down and focused on his bowling.

The reward came just two years later when he stirred the cricket world by bagging eight wickets for just ten runs on his first-class debut match. He soon became an essential cog of Rajasthan’s Ranji team that won back to back Ranji titles.

However his performance in domestic cricket failed to impress the selectors. But an impressive season with Chennai Super Kings in the 2018 IPL brought him back in the lime-light and Chahar soon landed in UAE as a part of India’s squad for Asia Cup.

Fans were excited to see Chahar donning the blue jersey of Team India and soon Twitterati erupted with congratulatory tweets for the pace-bowler.

Afghanistan won the toss against India and elected to bat first in their last Group Four match in the Asia Cup.

India have already booked a place in the finals of the Asia Cup. The men in blue will meet the winner of Pakistan and Bangladesh on September 28.

Mahela Jayawardene reveals his favourites for Asia Cup

Jayawardene believes India a clear favourite to lift the trophy

Former Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has said that India are the clear favourites for the Asia Cup as India is an all-round package and they look a cut above the rest.

Jayawardene praised the Indian team in a column he wrote for a newspaper. The Sri Lankan batsman noted that despite being without their talisman and best batsman Virat Kohli, India are the favourites. He further added that the fact that India can rest such a key player and still look so strong must be very comforting for their management.

Pakistan have struggled with inconsistency: Jayawardene

The former right-hand batsman noted that India’s batting is powerful and consistent while their bowling attack has the necessary power to balance the potency of these kind of wickets.

Jayawardene feels that Pakistan are India’s potential opponents in the final but he pointed out that they have struggled with inconsistency throughout the tournament. According to the right-hand batsman, Pakistan’s bowling has struggled and having the option of only one front-line spinner has not helped them on these pitches.

Jayawardene feels Sri Lanka was a big disappointment in Asia Cup

The former middle-order batsman praised Afghanistan and said they have been fantastic to watch and highly impressive. He added that seeing how their batting has performed is really encouraging.

But the former Sri Lankan player was apprehensive about the performance of his own country. He regarded Sri Lanka a big disappointment and said that he was frustrated to see that the team didn’t go in the tournament with defined roles for the top order.

Speaking about Bangladesh, Jayawardene said that the loss of Tamim Iqbal was a big blow to them and they had some tough moments in the tournament.

Twitter hails Dhoni’s return as skipper against Afghanistan in Asia Cup 2018

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Dhoni’s return as captain

Dhoni is leading India for the 200th time after the team management decided to rest skipper Rohit Sharma and his deputy Shikhar Dhawan.

India have played four fixtures so far in the Asia Cup 2018 and they have remained unbeaten thus far. They have already sealed a berth in the finals and they are playing Afghanistan in their last match of Super Four in Dubai International Stadium, Dubai.

Since India sit in a comfortable position, they opted to go for a bold rejig by making five changes to their playing XI. Deepak Chahar made his ODI debut, while KL Rahul who scored a morale-lifting century in the last Test against England also got a chance.

Manish Pandey is also all set to feature for the first time in this tournament in this match against Afghanistan.

India also decided to rest their premier bowlers Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar and make way for Siddarth Kaul and K Khaleel Ahmed.

Meanwhile, Twitter rejoiced as they got to see team India’s old in charge take charge after 696 days:

Afghanistan opt to bat after winning the toss

While talking after the toss, Dhoni spoke about the changes and explained that team management believed that everyone should have got a chance.

He said, “They are part of the Indian squad and they are representing India.” He added that the young bowlers who have been given this opportunity should capitalize on it and quickly adjust to the line and length.

Expressing his feeling about captaining India for the 200th time, Dhoni said, “I have captained in 199 ODIs, this opportunity has completed my 200. It’s all destiny and I believe in it. It is not in my control, once I left captainship. It is good to complete 200, but I don’t think it really matters.”

India Playing XI:

Mathews dropped from SL squad.

Angelo Mathews omitted from Sri Lanka ODI squad

Mathews removed from the ODI squad

A day after, when he was unceremoniously sacked as Sri Lanka captain in the aftermath of the disastrous Asia Cup campaign, Angelo Matthews has been dropped from Sri Lanka’s ODI squad for the series against England over fitness issues. However, the Sri Lankan captain has responded almost immediately. demanding the selectors allow him to undergo a fitness test.

Though the squad hasn’t been released yet, it has been named and sent to the Sports Minister for his mandatory approval giving Mathews a small ray of hope to make his way back into the set-up.

Mathews asks for a fitness test

It is understood that concerns’ over Mathews fitness were at the heart of the all-rounder’s exclusion from the side and was the chief talking point between him, coach Chandika Hathurusingha, and the selectors- the same meeting where Mathews was asked to relinquish the leadership duties from limited-overs cricket.

Mathews has had recurring injuries in his legs in the past 24 months but it is his match fitness that has come under scrutiny after he was involved in two run-outs during the Asia Cup.

Though he has stopped bowling, Mathews remains one of the bedrock of Sri Lanka’s batting in the past 24 months. Since the start of 2017, Mathews has notched up 888 runs at an average of 59.20, albeit at a modest strike-rate of 76.35. He was also the highest run-getter in Sri Lanka’s recent bilateral ODI series against the Proteas, having scored 235 runs at an average of 78.33.

“It was immediately felt that I have been made the scapegoat in this entire saga of Sri Lanka’s dismal performances against Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the Asia Cup. I’m willing to take part of the blame but at the same time, feel betrayed and let down if the blame is solely put on me”- Mathews in a letter to SLC CEO.

Mathews has already voiced his concerns over the selectors’ decision to remove him from the captaincy by sending a letter to SLC CEO Ashley de Silva where he resented being made the “scapegoat” for Sri Lanka’s woeful exit from the Asia Cup.

Sevilla FC vs Real Madrid CF Match Preview, Team News, Lineups

La Liga

In one of the crucial actions in the midweek, we have Real Madrid CF paying a visit to Seville. What has been so far a nightmarish event every time Los Blancos visited Sevilla is that they lost five of six games they have played and lost? The last time Los Blancos registered a win against at Sevilla FC was back in 2015 when Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hattrick to take the Elite Whites over the line but this time things would not be that easy given the Galacticos would be playing against one of the top teams of Spanish top flight football before they head to the Madrid Derby. Real Madrid’s start might not have been an overwhelming one but they have been undefeated in all the six matches they have played in this campaign. Gareth Bale has been exceptional, Isco has been magical, Modric has been stunning in the midfield and when the time calls Marco Asensio lives up to the occasion. The departure of Cristiano Ronaldo might have been a heartbreaking one but Real Madrid’s still getting the job done. Their empathic victory in the first game of the UEFA Champions League against AS Roma clearly turned all pundits shut. However, this clash might be the opportunity for the visitors to get a lead of their arch rivals who are sitting on the top of the points table. It has been long since Real Madrid won the league under Zinedine Zidane and under Julen Lopetegui, Madrid would want to add a few trophies to their cabinet.

Sevilla FC on the other hand, finally managed to break the jinx and scored 11 goals in their last two matches. One of those games includes the thrashing of Levante at Valencia by a score of 6-2. Their dominance on the ground was thoroughly felt as they went on goal scoring spree in the first hour and scored 6 goals. Wissam Ben Yedder scoring a hattrick will ensure his starting position on the ground remains and he remains a very big threat for the Madrid’s defence who has not been tight. However, the stats of the last game would give enough confidence to invite the Galacticos in their home and aim for a victory. It remains to see, if Real Madrid could really change things around in this post Ronaldo era or do they would sit back and wonder if Cristiano could have come to the rescue, owing to their terrible away record at Sevilla.

La Liga, Sevilla FC vs Real Madrid CF is to be played at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Seville at 21:00 PM ET UK. A thrilling game awaits everyone and can be watched live on Sony LIV.

Abu Dhabi, September 26 at 05:00 PM IST

Pakistan and Bangladesh clash in the virtual semi-final, with the winner advancing to the Asia Cup 2018 final against India on Friday.

Bangladesh recorded a thrilling last over win against Afghanistan in their last affair after Mustafizur Rahman defended 7 in the last over. The challenge will be bigger against Pakistan and a show can help them edge past Pakistan.

Pakistan come into the game after a crushing defeat to arch-rivals India. Still hurting from the loss on Friday, Pakistan have to regroup here if they are to meet India in the final.

Pitch conditions: Abu Dhabi surface has produced totals of 200-250. The slow bowlers have got a purchase so far and this could be another battle between the batsmen and spinners.

Last ODI result at the venue: Bangladesh 249/7 beat Afghanistan 246/7 – 23 September 2018, Asia Cup 2018

All-rounders – Shakib Al Hasan

Bowlers – Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Nazmul Islam

Pakistan Playing 11:

Wicket-keeper – Sarfraz Ahmed

Batsmen – Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq , Fakhar Zaman, Asif Ali

All-rounders –  Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Nawaz

Bowlers – Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, (Doubt: Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Amir)

BAN vs PAK Squads

Bangladesh squad: Mashrafe Mortaza(c), Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Ariful Haque, Mahmudullah, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Hider Rony, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Nazmul Islam, Soumya Sarkar and Imrul Kayes.

Pakistan squad: Sarfraz Ahmed(c), Shoaib Malik, Haris Sohail, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam, Shan Masood, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Shaheen Afridi, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Junaid Khan and Usman Khan.

BAN vs PAK Dream11 Team

Wicket-keeper: You must go for in-form Mushfiqur Rahim, who is two runs shy of completing 200 runs in the tournament.

Batsmen: Among the Bangladesh batsmen, Mahmudullah and Imrul Kayes came good with the bat against Afghanistan on Sunday, with both registering 70+ scores. Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq are the two leading run-getters for the side.

All-rounders: Shoaib Malik played a match-winning knock against Afghanistan earlier in the tournament and would be a confident batsman on the wicket. Shakib Al Hasan is another who can make an impact with the bat as well as ball and should not be missed. The spinners have come into play on Abu Dhabi wicket, you can also pick the two Pakistan spinners, Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz.

Bowlers: Again, we are going with another spinner Mehidy Hasan for he can get help from the surface. Mustafizur Rahman would be our second pick basis his match-saving last-ball performance against Afghanistan, after which he will be quite confident. Plus, Pakistan’s pace battery has failed in the last couple of games and will be short on confidence.

Captain/Vice-captain Choices:

Mushfiqur Rahim, Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik

“It happened in my arms,” Kohli recalls his father’s tragic death

Kohli calls his father’s death a turning point of his career

Virat Kohli said that after his father’s death, he put aside everything else to realize his dreams and his father’s dreams as well. In a documentary aired on National Geographic in the ‘Mega Icon’ series, Virat Kohli said, “It happened in my arms.”

“But I think I became more focused on what I did after that. I lost the desire of doing anything else and vested my energy into realizing my dream and my father’s dream,” he added.

Kohli recalled that the incident happened in his first season of Ranji Trophy and he had to go out and bat the next day. “It was 3 am in the morning and I was batting overnight. “I was 40 not out so I had to bat the next day as it was a four-day Ranji Trophy match,” Indian skipper said.

He also how he desperately sought help, but because everybody was fast asleep at night, nobody could come to help and by the time the ambulance arrived, his father had already joined the stars.

Kohli’s father Prem was professionally a criminal lawyer in Delhi. He died on December 18, 2006.

Sometimes I don’t even look at the bowler: Kohli

In the show, he also talked about his batting and the way his instincts takes over everything when he is on the field. “Sometimes I go into a state where I do not even look at the bowler. I just focus on the ball and I follow my instinct to a level that I feel like that there is not even a single negative instinct in my body,” he said.

The episode tries to explore if Kohli was born great or he got sculpted into one. Kohli believes that he was ‘meant to be’ what he is today. “It is not something can be created,” he asserted.
