EFL: Jamie Vardy is set to be rested for a quarter-final match against Manchester City

Leicester City’s manager Claude Puel decided to give rest to Jamie Vardy despite the quarter-final match against Pep Guardiola men (Manchester City) in the quarter-final. Puel opened up about the decision and said he is planning for the Saturday’s fixture against Chelsea in Wembley.

Puel’s priority over Manchester City

Claude Puel set his priorities straight and is planning for a high voltage fixture towards the glory of Carabao Cup. Not only Vardy but Puel is making some more changes in the line-up against Manchester City to prepare for Chelsea who is now in contention to beat Bournemouth in a quarterfinal match at Stamford Bridge.

Jamie Vardy’s Injury

Jamie Vardy is a joint top scorer for Leicester City this season, and he was dealing with a groin injury. Later on, he made his comeback against Crystal Palace and was able to play 90 minutes, but the manager has some other plans for his in-form player. Claude doesn’t want to take a risk when he is nearing the prestige of becoming the Carabao Cup winning manager for the first time in his managerial career.

Is Premier League ruling the EFL?

The Frenchman was asked about taking too much pressure for his Premier League run this season as Leicester city is not in the top 10, Claude said, “Absolutely not.”

Puel added, “It is a game of cup. It is different from the Premier League. I think we (Leicester) will have opportunities if we play with our intensity, fighting spirit.”

Leicester City is at number 12th in the points table of Premier League got six wins and eight losses in the league so far.
