It would be for the first time that three nations would be hosting the tournament but the majority of the games would be played in the United States.

Out of total 80 games, ten matches would be held in Canada, ten in Mexico and US would host 60 games including the finals which would be played at MetLife in New Jersey.

The United States earlier hosted the World Cup in 1994 while Mexico has also hosted it in 1970 and 1986.

Interestingly, Canada would be hosting their first men’s World Cup but they have hosted the women’s tournament in 2015.

The Trump Factor:

The United States President Donald Trump has supported the tri-nation bid and his administration has promised about the trade, tax and other requirements demanded by FIFA.

In April, Trump stirred a controversy with his tweet that some perceived as a threat. It would be a shame if countries that we always support were to lobby against the U.S. bid. Why should we be supporting these countries when they don’t support us (including at the United Nations)?” he wrote.
