FIFA World Cup 2018

There are three games lined up for the sixth day of FIFA World Cup 2018. The teams to be featured in today’s affair are Colombia and Japan, Poland and Senegal, Russia and Egypt.

Colombia vs Japan

This match is not less than a brawl as the two teams featuring in this contest do possess some firepower. This is the first game of Group-H, and the other two teams in this group are Poland and Senegal.

When: June 19th, 05:30 PM IST

Where: Mordovia Arena, Saransk

Colombia were the quarter-finalist of the last edition, and notably, James Rodriguez was the breakthrough star for them as he netted six goals and was awarded the golden boot. This team played exceptionally well in the last edition, and the same can be expected from them this time around. However, James Rodrigues and Wilmar Barrios are doubtful to take the pitch in this match as they are struggling with muscle fatigue.

As far as the Blue Samurai, Japan is concerned, this is going to be their 6th appearance in the mega event and they are yet to cross the last 16 barriers being jolted twice in that situation, and the latest one was at the 2010 edition in South Africa.

This will be the first time when these two teams will square off against each other where. Talking about the  World Cup appearances, this will be the second appearance for Senegal while Poland will be featuring for the fourth time after missing out in the last two editions.

Senegal had an amazing run in the 2002 edition as they stormed into the quarter-finals whereas, Poland’s best performance has been a third spot finish in 1974 and 1982.

Poland struggled a lot in the last two appearances at the World Cup in 2006 and 2010 where they were knocked out in the group stage itself.

Russia vs Egypt

This will be the second game of this edition of FIFA World Cup for the host Russia and the dark horse Egypt. Russia humiliated Saudi Arabia in the opening game of the tournament with 5-0 while Egypt suffered a loss against Uruguay in a well fought match by 0-1.

When: June 19th, 11:30 PM IST

This is going to be the first ever encounter between the two sides and hosts Russia would be boiling for yet another win. A win for Russia will ensure there spot at the top of the table until the next match of this group where Uruguay will be up against the minnows Saudi Arabia.

Mohammad Salah was expected to take the pitch in the last game against Uruguay, but at the end time he was not cleared to appear and was sidelined for the match. His presence is the motivation which Egypt needs right now, although they showed some great character in the last game, but his presence could have turned the tables for them.

In the first match of the tournament, Russia were forced to make a change after a hamstring injury ruled out Alan Dzagoev off the field. He was replaced by Denis Cheryshev who turned out to be a masterstroke from the team management has he scored twice in the match.
