Ian Bishop is a legendary West Indies bowler and a commentator. He was born on 24 October 1967 and comes from the island of Trinidad and Tobago. Bishop was primarily a right-arm fast bowler who made his first appearance for the West Indies in 1988 and called it quits after a decade in 1998 from Tests and One Day Internationals(ODIs).

It took just 21 games for Bishop to bag 100 Test wickets, which made him one of the key players in the West Indies outfit. Bishop now regarded as one of the finest commentators there is in modern day cricket and continues to strive in the broadcasting circuit of the sport.

It is said that Ian Bishop idolized the likes of Marshall, Colin Croft, Michael Holding and Joe Garner. Bishop’s 100 wickets from 21 Tests made him enter the list of the fastest to a 100 Test wickets. Interestingly, Joe Garner and Colin Croft also took the same number of games to scalp 100 wickets in Tests.

Ian Bishop is also among the 50 players and administrators to get honored by the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) for their contribution to the development in Cricket. Bishop was one of the names  in his country’s Sporting Hall of Fame and was declared as one of Trinidad and Tobago’s 50 sporting legends.

The cricketer turned commentator is also considered deeply religious. In an interview with the Independent, Bishop mentioned about how important God has been to him. “God has always been an important part of my life and I believe that once I stay within his will he won’t lead me where he can’t provide for me,” Ian Bishop was quoted saying.
