Born on 7 November 1993 in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, the right-arm pacer began his international journey with a first T20 cap in January 2020. He made his ODI debut in late October 2020 versus Zimbabwe.  In the Pakistan Super League, he currently represents the Lahore Qalandars.

Rauf was more interested in football in his college days. He first tried his luck in cricket in September 2017 by joining a local university team in Islamabad.
