Jatin hails from Jammu & Kashmir and was born into a family Kashmiri Pandits. His family used to live on a farm in Kashmir, where his father was a reputed professor. But later because of constant communal disturbance in the state of Kashmir, his family had to leave their home the agitation forced them to shift to a one-bedroom apartment in Delhi.
He went for engineering after his father’s wishes but eventually lost the interest and dropped out of the college. In an interview, he said, “Dropping out of Engineering was a difficult decision. But I had always enjoyed literature and theatre, and English had always been a strong point, so when I made it into a journalism course, I immediately felt like I belonged.”
Jatin started working for ‘Tangerine’ while he was in his third year of graduation. He used to write sports scripts for network providers, airlines magazines and commentated for mobile ESPN. But you will be surprised to know that he used to earn just Rs. 6500, and he was quite unsure of his future in the media profession.
