Not just in the Indian tennis, Leander Paes is also one of the greatest tennis players in the world to ever grace the tennis court. Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, Paes father Jennifer Paes was a midfielder in the bronze medal-winning Indian hockey team in 1972 Munich Olympics. His mother was also a sportswoman as she captained the Indian basketball team in the Asian Basketball Championship, 1980.
Paes started his career with another Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar, in 1990. Paes then went on to win numerous titles during his legendary career. He has completed the rare Grand Slam (won all 4 grand slams) in the doubles and mixed doubles as well.
