Born into a family of sportspersons he started his career early in cricket. He went to the University of Adelaide and became the first Indian Cricket recipient of the Oxford-Cambridge Half Blue Award. After coming back to India, he played in IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) but his career in cricket was very short-lived due to knee injury and multiple surgeries and he had to quit playing cricket.
