RPS vs DD 2017 meetings

In DD vs RPS at Delhi Capitals home Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, the home side won the toss and decided to bat first. They didn’t have the expected start as DC lost two wickets inside first 13 deliveries including the prized wicket of Sanju Samson. From this point, the other opener, Karun Nair added 74 runs alongside Rishabh Pant (36 runs off deliveries) to control the things. After the departure of Pant, Marlon Samuels also contributed crucial 22 runs to the total. Karun Nair kept fighting from the other end and added some small partnerships alongside the lower-order. He added vital 22 runs alongside Amit Mishra before getting out at 64 runs off 45 deliveries. Owing to Nair’s efforts, Delhi Capitals managed a total of 168/8 in 20 overs. Jaydev Unadkat and Ben Stokes finished with 2 wickets each with the ball. Just like Delhi, the Supergiants also had a worst possible start to the chase. First, they lost Ajinkya Rahane on the very first ball of the innings, soon the other opener, Rahul Tripathi also departed leaving his side in trouble. Manoj Tiwary joined forces with Steve Smith to build a partnership, but as soon as things were getting better, Steve Smith got out in the 10th over after scoring 38 runs. Ben Stokes (33 runs) and Tiwary added 51 runs for the 4th wicket to bring RPS back into the match. However, after the departure of Ben Stokes, RPS lost wickets in bulk including the wicket of MS Dhoni. Despite the best efforts of Tiwary who scored 60 runs, RPS fell short seven runs of the total to finish at 161/7 in 20 overs. Pacers Zaheer Khan and Mohammad Shami finished with 2 wickets each to cap-off a good day at the office. Karun Nair was awarded the player of the match for his efforts with the willow.

The reverse fixture was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This time RPS won the toss, and they elected to bowl first. Jaydev Unadkat proved the decision with the wicket of Sunil Narine in the first over itself. KKR’s innings could not get going as they lost 4 wickets inside 10 overs. Manish Pandey (37 runs) and Colin de Grandhomme (36 runs) built a small but fruitful partnership to bring some momentum to KKR innings. Suryakumar Yadav (30 runs off 16 deliveries) provided finishing touches to take KKR to a total of 155/8. Both Jaydev Unadkat and Washington Sundar finished with 2 wickets each. Chasing the target, RPS lost Ajinkya Rahane early. However, Rahul Tripathi went on to score 93 runs off 52 runs to take the game away from KKR single-handed. Despite losing the wickets on a regular interval on the other end, RPS managed to overhaul the target with 4 wickets in hand and 4 balls to spare. Chris Woakes was the star with the ball as the English pacer finished with 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Rahul Tripathi was deservingly adjudged player of the match for his brilliant knock with the bat.
