Nostragamus Table Tennis | TT Cup Prediction

Game 1: Serhii Kinash vs Borys Kostiuk

Serhii Kinash will be playing Borys Kostiuk in the latest Ukraine Table Tennis Cup competition match. Kinash is one of the most consistent players in this tournament and boasts a 662 rating.

But the 30-year-old Poltavoa born Ukrainian has had a mixed day at the office today, i.e. on March 20 as he lost three and won just once in the four games he played. In the first game, he fired a blank against Chaplianka, losing 7:11, 8:11, 9:11. But he made a magnificent recovery with the win in all three sets against Liushnia 9:11, 8:11, 7:11.

In the following two-games, he could win just two sets against Kryshtal (7:11, 11:9, 9:11, 7:11) and Koloshowever (11:6, 11:8, 10:12, 11:3). It's fair to say that he has had a below-average day by his own standards.

His opponent Borys Kostiuk also had a negative return on the day as he dropped three games and could manage just one win. He has a 382 rating and at 68-years of age, is one of the most experienced players around. But the experience can count only so much at this level, and he knows that he is coming up against younger and exuberant players. That reflects on his match-day stats, as nit since March 09, he has had a positive return.

As far as his today's performance is concerned, he played four games, won one and dropped the other three. In the first game, he lost 3-1 to Baistriuchenko (11:9, 7:11, 11:7, 11:5); won 0-3 against Kolos (8:11, 10:12, 10:12), lost 3-0 to Chaplianka (11:6, 11:5, 11:7) and fired a blank again against Liushnia (11:3, 11:7, 11:8).

So who is favourite to win in this game?

Serhii Kinash is the overwhelming favourite in this game. There's a strong chance that he may win the match without dropping a set, so choose your answers carefully.

Game 2: Vitalii Solovey vs Serhii Kubrak

In this game, Vitalii Solovey will have a tilt against Serhii Kubrak. Solovey boasts a rating of 639 and is one of the best players in this competition. The 46-year-old is also in red-hot form heading into this game, for he has won 8 games in the last three rounds while dropping only two.

In the last three games, he has won seven sets, winning 3-1 against Kolesnik (14:12, 9:11, 11:7, 11:8) and two 3-0 wins over Kuznetsov (4:11, 6:11, 8:11) and Volokhov (6:11, 5:11, 9:11) respectively.

Serhii Kubrak, meanwhile, is even in better from that Solovey, for he has a better rating than him at 681, and has won five positive return in the last six matchdays.

He has a 100% record in today's schedule. He started off with a 3-1 win over Derevinskyi (8:11, 9:11, 12:10, 4:11), and followed it up with a 3-2 win over Puhach (11:7, 11:7, 7:11, 10:12, 8:11), 3-2 over Kolesnik (8:11, 13:11, 5:11, 11:9, 11:7), and 0-3 against Zakladnyi (5:11, 7:11, 4:11).

So who is favourite to win in this game?

This is really a tough call, as both the players are in good form. Don't favour one particular player, and avoid a 0-3 win for either one. In terms of a winner, Kubrak may edge out Solovey.
