NZ vs IND 3rd T20I: Blair Tickner replaces Lockie Ferguson

By Chaitanya Laxman

New Zealand pace bowler Blair Tickner will replace Lockie Ferguson for the third T20I against India on Sunday. This decision to replace Ferguson was taken by New Zealand’s selectors while announcing the squad with a view to provide Ferguson some rest and to offer youngsters an opportunity.

Blair rewarded for impact in domestic cricket: Larsen

Chief selector Gavin Larsen has said that Blair has been rewarded for the strong form he has produced in domestic cricket.

He noted that Blair has been there or thereabouts for most of the season and he featured in their NZ A short-format teams.

According to Larsen, Blair is well-respected among his team-mates and opponents alike as someone who bowls a heavy ball at good pace.

Fergsuson has on the other hand has impressed everyone with his extreme pace and he is seen as a contender for New Zealand’s World Cup squad. The pacer was part of the ODI squad as well and hence the team management has decided to rest him to manage his workload.

Playing for country always a pleasure: Blair

Blair stated that he is pretty excited and really glad with the way things have gone over the years. He explained that as long as he is there or thereabouts, in all three formats, he will be happy.

He also feels that you are in front of the selectors all the time and you are playing for your country so there’s nothing better than putting your name out there and it is always a privilege.
