Ishant Sharma

Ishant Sharma has become one of the mainstays of Indian fast bowling cartel. This generation of fast bowlers is regarded as ‘Best of All Time’ in Indian history.

Rotations did not let fast bowlers thrive

Ishant Sharma recently came out and recalled the early days of his international career in a recent interview with Indian Newspaper. The fast bowler said that fast bowlers were rotated more often than they would like individually under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. Ishant added that fast bowlers were not given enough chances consistently to find their rhythm. Inexperience also added to the worries of the fast bowling unit.

Ishant credits current team management

Ishant Sharma credited current management under Virat Kohli for excellent work. Ishant said there is mostly a pool of 3-4 fast Bowlers around than compared to 6-7 bowlers earlier during MS Dhoni’s time. The fast bowler added that there should be a feeling of confidence among the fast bowlers. That can only be build up after playing up with each other for a decent amount of time. What exactly was lacking earlier and that affected the results from them.

It is fair to add that India performed poorly on overseas tours under the Captaincy of MS Dhoni. Ishant was part of a couple of 4-0 whitewash on English and Australian shores in 2011-12 season.

Jason Gillespie helped Ishant out

Ishant Sharma thanked Jason Gillespie for sorting out his issues during a stint with Sussex County 3 years back. Ishant said many were pointing out problems with his bowling but no one was willing to give the solutions. Jason helped him with hitting the deck harder in full-length deliveries rather than just putting it there.

Ishant Sharma’s Ranji Trophy Heroics

Ishant is currently playing for Delhi in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. He recently led Delhi to victory against Hyderabad with 4 wickets in each innings of the game. His next international assignment will be on tour of New Zealand with Team India. India is scheduled to play 2 test matches starting in February.
