BBL: Batsman tumbles over bowler in a nasty collision, watch video

You don’t freak injuries in cricket every day but on Tuesday, Sam Harper of Melbourne Renegades suffered one of the nastiest blow one can imagine. During the match between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League 2019-20, Harper collided with pacer Nathan Ellis in a very dangerous way.

Sam Harper gets a freakish injury in BBL match

The incident took place in the second innings of the 46th match in the BBL at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. During the run chase of Renegades, Hurricanes’ Nathan Ellis bowled the fourth ball of the fourth over to Sam Harper, which was tucked to mid-off and prompted the latter to go for a single.

As Harper ran to make his crease, Ellis went to collect the ball thrown from an outfielder and the two collided in an ugly manner. The wicket-keeper batsman Harper went flying over Ellis’ back after the impact and fell to the ground immediately. As it turned out, he had landed in a way that had hurt his head and neck possibly. The impact of the helmet with the ground resulted in that.

A medical professional was called out immediately as the 23-year old Renegades batsman stayed on the ground. As a result of this, Harper didn’t continued bat and was retired hurt from the match due to a concussion.

It was later revealed by the Cricket Australia that the Melbourne batsman was hospitalized after the injury and is currently under surveillance. The video shows Harper unable to stand properly after the incident.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Renegades lose out to Hurricanes despite Nabi’s exploits

Tom Copper later replaced the wicket-keeper batsman in the XI as the concussion replacement. Hobart Hurricanes had scored 190 for 3 with Matthew Wade scoring 66 runs and Macalister Wright scoring 70 runs.

In the run chase, Shaun Marsh scored 56 runs while Mohammad Nabi played a quickfire knock of 63 but Hurricanes kept their calm and sealed a four-run win.
