Romario Shepherd is an emerging fast bowler from the islands of Guyana. He was born on 26 November 1994. Right from his club cricket days, Romario Shepherd has made a name for himself with his fast-bowling credentials. The advantage of height combined with the ability to hit the deck hard has propelled him to represent West Indies at the highest level.

Romario Shepherd Cricket Career

Romario Shepherd made his List A debut for Guyana against Leeward Islands in the Regional Super50 competition in 2015-16 season. On his debut, he was impressive while picking up 3 for 37 and grabbed ‘Man of the Match’ award in his first domestic game. Guyana trusted him even more and handed him his first-class debut in the next season. Notably, he started his cricketing career with Guyana right from the age group days of U17 & U19.

After his impressive run in the domestic circuit and against England Lions & India A, Romario Shepherd got the national call-up for the series against Afghanistan in 2019. The series was played in India and Romario Shepherd made his ODI debut in the first match of the series. In January 2020, he made his T20I debut in the series against Ireland in the Caribbean. He has presented the glimpses of his talent in the limited exposure to the international cricket.

Romario Shepherd can also hit a long ball with the bat in the lower order. His batting potential along with the raw fast-bowling talent makes him one of the sought-after players in the T20 circuit. He has been part of Guyana Amazon Warriors from the 2018 season of CPL. His CPL 2020 performances this year will go a long way in terms of making him stand out in the plethora of fast-bowlers in the domestic cricket.
